We are quite flexible in the
arrangements we can make for sub-contracting certain work and
for the ways in which we can work with technical consultants.
However, the nature of our enterprise dictates that we be highly
selective in forming associations. Both the caliber of
technical experts we require and our objective of providing our
clients with the best possible assessment dictate that our
compensation rates are nationally competitive. Because we are
highly focused and almost exclusively involved in providing
technology assessments, we have developed specialized procedures
and practices that allow us to be efficient and cost effective.
In turn, our efficiencies allow us to have a high pass through
to our consultants and sub-contractors so that their
compensation appropriately reflects their level of expertise and
is proportional to their contributions to each project.
Beta-Rubicon’s by-laws provides the opportunity
for individuals to become employees, participating in the Company
through ownership, if one accrues a minimum of 200 billable
hours per year on an on-going basis.
Our Approach
Our approach to technology assessments requires that we have
experts to provide both breadth and depth in knowledge and
analytical skills. We tend to have our full time staff act as
project managers and to provide the breadth or contextual and
synthesis components of our assessments. Our largest requirement
for consultants is in areas of specialized technical expertise
-- particularly in areas that extend our capabilities in
providing depth of analysis for new technologies. To
respond to our clients’ needs, which may require the
assessment of a wide range of new and evolving technologies in
novel applications, we must have available a considerable array
of technical experts. Because of the episodic nature of work in
most areas of specialization, those working with us on
consulting or sub-contracting bases are typically self-employed
or have working arrangements that permit additional short-term
employment. All members of project teams actively participate
throughout each project from initial contract cost estimating
through the final conference to determine consensus-built
recommendations for our clients.
Requirements for Association with
Beta-Rubicon
The following points represent the main requirements
necessary for Consultants and Sub-Contractors to Beta-Rubicon:
~ The essential requirement is technical competence and
verifiable evidence thereof.
~ Most of us at Beta-Rubicon have 10 to 15 or more years
of technical experience in our areas of interest. Although we do
not have a minimum level of qualifying experience, we do
consider relevant experience essential in developing
understanding and proficiency.
~ All must be willing to execute appropriate
confidentiality and non-competition agreements. Beta-Rubicon
must make copies of these agreements available for review. Each
must be willing to provide a verifiable resume for disclosure to
clients and potential clients of the Company.
~ Consultants and Sub-Contractors must be proficient and
comfortable with electronic/networked communications.
~ Our work is demanding and team-oriented. Hence, we
restrict our association to productive and team oriented
individuals. We may work independently at a distance but the
importance of these attributes is no less critical.
